Every Riponian knows our lovely city is filled with unsung heroes – these awards highlight just a few.

RIPONIAN OF THE YEAR

  • Alec Lutton, for ‘masterminding the installation of defibrillators around Ripon, which the emergency services have already utilised on a number of occasions’
  • Eric Clark, for ‘running Ripon Lions (group of men & women who do local volunteer work & raise funds to support our community) and for putting in his time over December to be the the Ripon Santa Claus’

COMMUNITY HERO

  • Adam Prentis, for ‘building up the Fountains Abbey parkrun and making it into the fantastic event that now attracts all ages & abilities every week’
  • David & Elaine Day, for ‘being great role models through their outstanding contributions to the Ripon & District Scouts’

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

  • Madeleine Staniland-Dixon, for ‘providing pastoral care & compassion to the community through work with The Royal British Legion, Cathedral and as a volunteer visitor’
  • James Parkes, for ‘putting endless hours in to ensure the young people of Ripon receive the support they need, alongside the board of trustees at the Ripon YMCA’
