The Old Deanery is a Jacobean mansion in the very heart of Ripon, in the shadows of Ripon Cathedral. As an independently owned restaurant with rooms, we can also offer exclusive use for intimate weddings for up to 30 guests, with a small friendly team helping to organise your special day.
Think red carpet entrance, a grand reception lounge, 11 bedrooms and, of course, our magnificent grounds and gardens that are perfect for photographs. Most excitingly, your wedding breakfast will be a bespoke designed tasting menu, curated by our chef, Adam Jackson.
Adam has a collection of awards and accreditations to his name, and a list of some of the top restaurants on his CV. Adam was head chef at the Black Swan at Oldstead, where he helped win its first Michelin star in 2012. He then set up his own restaurant, the Park in Marmadukes Townhouse hotel which gained three AA rosettes.
To make planning your day as stress-free as possible, we have designed the framework of a package that can then be adapted and extended to become personal to you. The beauty of an independent, exclusive use venue is that we can offer the flexibility to tailor-make your perfect day by working with you on any special requirements or extra touches.

The Old Deanery is available for events. Due to the size and shape of the building, and the style of service that we offer, each event will require a consultation and bespoke quote, so please contact us and we will be happy to assist.
As a rough guide, we can offer exclusive use of the venue for a light lunch or buffet-style event on a Monday or Tuesday, occasional Wednesdays, and Sunday evenings from around £2500 (includes exclusive use venue hire and food for one meal sitting: lunchtime or evening).
Exclusive use at other days and times starts from around £5000 and is subject to limited availability.
We can offer a semi-private dining experience in our chef’s lounge for up to 8 people on dates when the restaurant is open.
Our cinema room is also available to hire.
